FORT WORTH, DECEMBER 12, 2017 – Today, the City of Fort Worth unveiled a five-year economic development strategic plan to compete successfully on the national and international stage for creative, high-growth businesses and the talented individuals who fuel them.

The plan outlines key metrics for the City and partner organizations, with the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce as the lead partner in establishing Fort Worth’s competitive edge through business attraction, business expansion and highly-targeted marketing strategies.

“We’re eager to work with our partners at the City to open new roads toward building Fort Worth into a major international business hub, a model of urban planning and an even more robust cultural center,” said Brandom Gengelbach, executive vice president of Economic Development for the Chamber.

“Because of our region’s rapid growth and intense competition, we are defining those roles, responsibilities and specific goals for measurable results in a more detailed way than ever before,” he said. “Economic development is a shared responsibility among local entities and baseline activities need to be expanded so these plans can be fully optimized,”

The Chamber will be unveiling a four-year strategic plan in early 2018 that -- in addition to more proactive and targeted business recruitment -- will focus on talent development and attraction, advocacy and small business support. Staff and resources are currently being realigned, and fundraising efforts to support implementation will begin in January. The Chamber expects to increase revenue by 30 percent in the first year to begin executing their plan.
